While visiting „The Anthropocene” exhibition in The ZODIAK Warsaw Pavilion of Architecture (curators: Kacper Kępiński, Adrian Krężlik) the small part that intrigued me referred to Fallingwater house (arch. Frank Lloyd Wright). It was an example of the most iconic architecture that we should look on from a different perspective in the context of the climate catastrophe. It is a beautiful, impactful house with an open plan but unfortunately, it takes over the terrain of the waterfall that was previously untouched by human. Moreover, the house requires constant repairs and its maintenance is expensive because of the challenging conditions.
I went on with this subject and looked wider. Apart from the beautiful villa, in its surroundings you can find a museum, a shop and a parking lot. Everything was built because of the touristic potential of Fallingwater. It’s worth noticing that the whole infrastructure is located in the middle of Bear Run Nature Reserve.
My poster continues the dialogue that was started on „The Anthropocene” exhibition - do some of the architecture icons still deserve this title?
This B2 poster was printed by me.
